7 injured after horse jump in Australian crowd

WARRNAMBOOL, Australia - seven people were taken to hospital after a horse has jumped on a high fence in a crowd of spectators about 50 in the Grand annual steeplechase at the Warrnambool racing track.

Banna Strand, without a rider, turned off the coast of course Thursday and jumped a fence 7 feet (2 meters) brush in the crowd.

The most serious injury was to a 2-year-old daughter, who has suffered a fracture of the collarbone. Most of the other injured were treated and out of the hospital.

Racing Victoria said it will investigate the incident.
