Brazil same-sex couples get new rights

May 6, 2011 updated at 00: 06 GMT Breaking news Supreme Court of the Brazil has massively in favour of allowing same-sex couples the same rights as heterosexual married.

The decision was approved by 10-0 and one abstention.

The decision will give homosexual couples in "stable" partnerships, the same financial and social rights whose jouits heterosexual relationships.

Brazil is the most populous Roman Catholic nation in the world and has a couples 60 000 about homosexuals.
