Citizen Saudi Arabia, killed in Karachi

 officials said the car was attacked at about 1 km (a half mile) of the Consulate of armed men opened fire on a car belonging to Saudi Arabia Consulate in Karachikilling a Saudi Arabian citizen, police said.

Hassan Kehqani, an employee of the Consulate, was attacked in the district of defence normally peaceful and rich.


The attack produced two days after grenades were launched at the Consulate of the building, causing no injuries.


No group has said it carried out the attack, but al-Qaeda is known to be violently opposed to the Saudi Government.


The Group has pledged to avenge the death of its leader, born in Saudi Osama bin Laden, who was killed in a U.S. raid in Pakistan this month. Saudi Arabia stripped the leader of al-Qaeda for years citizenship.


A Saudi official told AFP news agency that the attack took place about 1 km (a half mile) from the consular building.


"At least six bullets were fired during the attack," Deputy Inspector General of Police Iqbal Mahmood told journalists.


"There were four men on two motorcycles and they have intercepted the vehicle before opening fire," he said.


Saudi Ambassador Abdul Aziz al-Ghadeer condemned the attack. "Anyone who carries out this type of attack can be a Muslim, he told the Reuters news agency.


South of the port of Karachi saw an increase in violence over the past years. There were attacks by the Taliban on the city and killing policies and ethnic bigots are too frequent.
