Obama speaks of Libya with the Emir of Kuwait

WASHINGTON  - President Barack Obama thanked the Kuwait Emir of the oil-rich country for "generous pledge" $ 180 million in the Libyan opposition, the National Council of transition.


Obama speaks by telephone with Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad Al - Sabah Friday and also thanked him for turning the "unwavering support" of Kuwait, US troops, the White House said in a statement.


"The President thanked the Emir generous pledge of the Kuwait of the National Council of the Libya transition assistance and stressed the importance of financial support required to their urgent needs into account opposition, the Declaration.


Kuwait April 24, announced the pledge of "urgent humanitarian aid" Libyan civilians, through the national Council.


During this time, world powers on Thursday agreed to take advantage of the frozen assets of leader Libyan Moamer Kadhafi abroad to provide vital emergency assistance to the rebels. Regime of Kadhafi Friday called the plan "piracy".


The White House said emir Obama and the Kuwait also "renewed their commitment to build on the historical links between the United States and Kuwait.".


In the United States led the military assault that liberated the Kuwait in 1991, after the Iraq invaded its smaller neighbor.
