Taiwan: Military of China Taipei-Seoul pressures links (AP)

TAIPEI, Taiwan - a Taiwanese Defense official said military pressure on the South Korea fact Beijing with the self-governing island to stop a student exchange program.

Remarks of the Defense Ministry spokesman Lo Shao-ho Wednesday appear to undermine President Ma Ying-jeou of claims that Taiwan improve relations with Beijing can provide Taipei international space for maneuvering.

Taiwan and China separated in the civil war in 1949. The continent sees the island as part of its territory and frequently uses its growing international influence to pressure other countries to keep their distance from Taipei.

Said Lo Taiwan strives to guarantee the continuity of the Exchange program to small military students in the South Korea.
