Blast Hits Iran refinery as Ahmadinejad visits

 An explosion shook the greater the Iran oil refinery as President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was about to arrive on the site for a planned visit.

The semi-official news agency Fars, says that the explosion took place Tuesday morning, shortly before the arrival of the President. Ahmadinejad has been planned to inaugurate the refinery expansion project in the city of Abadan Southwest.


The report said at least 20 people were injured by the explosion, the value of a fire on the site. The explosion was attributed to a "gas leak".


A live broadcast by later State television showed Ahmadinejad dealing with local officials on the site at Abadan.
